Job Summary

 

Assist in-house attorneys by conducting research on a wide variety of legal issues. Collaborate with other team members on special projects and assignments as needed. Maintain confidentiality of client information and adhere to ethical standards of the legal profession. This is a 15-20 hours a week position.

 

 

What you’ll do

 

Research legal and regulatory matters in the areas of health and life insurance law, employment law, administrative law, contractual matters, current litigation, and others, under the direction and guidance of in-house counsel.

Prepare factual summaries of complex legal matters for attorney review.

Attend meetings with in-house counsel to develop a wide understanding of the company and assist in-house attorneys with presentations on a variety of regulatory and legal matters.
 

 

What you need

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to critically read and interpret documents, case law, statutes, and regulations.

Effectively use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively, both in written and oral communication.

Able to organize and prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.

Skilled in utilizing legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, and others.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Enrollment in an accredited law school program with a strong academic record required.Hi Cody

Prior law clerk experience preferred but not required.

 

Physical Requirements

Sedentary desk work

Required to use a computer up to 90% of the day.

Occasional lifting boxes up to 25 lbs.

 

Compensation

 

$23.58 - $29.40
